JOINT PAIN

What is joint pain?

Joint pain is very common. Patients usually describe this pain as dull pain that lasts for several weeks, increases when the joint is loaded, and usually the affected joints are swollen and warm to the touch. The most common cause of joint pain in the younger population is mainly due to injury. Injury during sports activities or a more serious fall, usually leads to pain and swelling of the joints and is a significant problem for the patients. In the elderly population, joint pain is mainly degenerative in nature. The degenerative nature of the disease itself depends on whether it is a biological deterioration of cartilage that occurs in the elderly population or is a consequence of another disease.

Why does joint pain occur?

Pain and swelling in the joints are caused by various inflammations such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, as well as injuries for various reasons. Like the joints in machines, the joints in the body must be perfectly clean, soft, lubricated and mobile. Once there is inflammation of the joint or damage to the joint or its ligaments, there is an accumulation of harmful substances in the joint, its swelling and time of decay. When the cartilage of the joint collapses or deforms, the joint can’t function normally, but is loaded and as a result permanent pain occurs. When that cartilage is completely destroyed, nothing prevents the bone from hitting the other bone and this leads to even more pain. Whether inflammatory or degenerative in nature, joint pain can significantly affect the quality of your life.
